Dr. Siedhoff was incredible! He was very easy to talk to and seems to genuinely care. He knew right away what he wanted to do, and he gave me a 20 page packet at the end of the visit with FAQs and next steps. His office is extremely efficient, and he was kind enough to start a chat in the patient portal so that I could message him at any time. Overall an amazing doctor who I feel confident in, for once lol. The only downside is the wait, but if you can get in to see him, I highly recommend! Best of luck :)

Finally some good news! I finally got in to see a minimally invasive specialist, Dr. Siedhoff in Los Angeles last Friday! He was incredibly kind and spent a lot of time prior to meeting with me to review my history. He made sure that I was able to ask questions and he was very attentive to detail. I had my first ever lap done in late March, and his exact words were that my endo was “incompletely treated surgically.” I have never felt so validated by a doctor, and he took my pain extremely seriously. He set me up and I will be getting a second lap done sometime this month. It’s unfortunate that I do have to have two laps over the span of four months, but I’m confident in Dr. Siedhoff and I’m looking forward to feeling better :)

I had initially requested a consult with Dr. Wright in September 2023, but I was put on a 5-7 month waiting list. I was able to get in contact with a Cedars representative in May, and they told me I could see her in August. I then requested to see Dr. Siedhoff, and the representative communicated with the office regarding my case, and I was able to get bumped up and saw him on June 7th, and was immediately scheduled for surgery for July 9th!

Thank you so much! I’m now 1 week out from my surgery with him- I will let you know how it goes! 💕

Of course! I know he is crazy busy unfortunately- I think in total it has been 11 months from the first time I called the scheduling office to my surgery date! I wish there was an easier way :(

Positive Surgery Update!! After one botched lap in March, I finally had a positive experience with a renowned endo surgeon, Dr. Siedhoff in LA this past Tuesday! I underwent a 2 hour surgery and Dr. Siedhoff and his team were incredibly thorough, excising endometriosis of the bladder, rectum, and uterosacral ligaments. I have been steadily improving each day, and I am hopeful that I will be feeling better for the first time in my life. 💛 I highly recommend Dr. Siedhoff and his MIGS team- they are truly life changing. 💖

I am with UCLA Health as well for my regular GYN, and I love them! Dr. Siedhoff and his group are amazing, and I actually was able to get scheduled for surgery 1 month after my first appointment with him. He was very understanding and genuinely listened to me, and was very confident that surgery would alleviate my pain so he scheduled me as soon as he could. I highly recommend him and anyone in his group! Thank you for the well wishes and I hope you find the right doctor for you and you feel better soon!💖💖

Wow- thank you so much for sharing. I truly believe it to be important to hear both the good and the bad. Personally, I’ve only met Dr. S the day of my surgery and he has left his Fellow (a very lovely person, Dr. Schneyer) in charge of my care along with his nursing team as I have had several complications myself. I actually just got home from the office to see Dr. Schneyer for an exam and blood/urine following severe pain and nausea/vomiting. I wish you all the luck and all the best as well- this is something no one should ever have to experience.

Expert Endometriosis Excision Surgery in Los Angeles: Success Story! :D I had endometriosis excised by Dr. Matthew Siedhoff at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles in August 2017. The surgery went longer than expected (about 5 hours), and they kept me overnight at the hospital. Dr. Siedhoff is confident about the outcome of surgery. He removed an endometrioma on an ovary, endometriosis on my bladder, endometriosis on the peritoneum near my liver, endometirosis on my rectum and uterus. Apparently my uterus and rectum were glued together with a large endometriosis nodule (Stage 4). He called in a colorectal surgeon to assist in separating the organs and removing all endometriosis. I went into the surgery only knowing that I might have endo because my cyst looked like an endometrioma from previous ultrasounds. Dr. Siedhoff sent samples to pathology. When Dr. Siedhoff got the pathology report, he confirmed everything he removed had endometriosis. He also evaluated and removed my appendix, cut one of the nerves to my uterus (presacral neuroectomy), and evaluated the inside of my bladder. The nurses and care partners were so kind, along with the anesthesiologists. Dr. Siedhoff also had great bedside manner and kept my husband in the waiting room apprised of any changes. I've lived with so much pain the last 10+ years and am so happy to begin the healing process. I recommend requesting to join the Nancy's Nook Endometriosis Discussion and Education Facebook group. They have files detailing the research of why endometriosis surgery via excision has better outcomes (versus ablation/fulguration: essentially cauterizing or burining the disease off). Endometriosis surgery via excision can have a 20% or less recurrence rate (from any missed disease, not from re-growth). There are also studies showing that 60% of women trying to conceive after endometriosis surgery via excision were able to conceive naturally within 12 months after surgery. It's been a long journey for me, and now I

I'd recommend joining that Nancy's Nook Endometriosis group. They have a list of doctors that do the surgery via excision. Hopefully you have one local to you. I also was lucky to be able to change insurance so that Dr. Siedoff would be an in-network option. A lot of the women also talk about traveling for the surgery. It's worth all the hassle getting to the right doctor for the best outcomes. Endometriosis surgery via excision is a much better option than lupron or a hysterectomy. Best wishes to you in finding a doctor that can help you.

I was able to conceive after, but did require a second surgery at the CEC in Atlanta (luckily in January 2020 before everything shut down) and did IVF after. I had a second kiddo without IVF as well! The second surgery was mainly due to not having done bowl prep for my first surgery and not being able to completely remove all the endo on the bowel. So in the second surgery, I did bowl prep and it could be all removed.

He do ask me about the possibility for a presacral neurectomy beforehand and we discussed everything for consent about what was to be done or not. He also called in an oncology colorectal surgeon to join in during my surgery, just fyi.

I had a great experience overnight in one of the post surgical units. The staff were all great and I was discharged the next morning. The worst part is when they remove the Foley catheter. Billing wise, I am lucky to have a PPO 90/10 with a low deductible, so while the total was expensive, my part of it due was reasonable. My endo on my bowel did recur, due to not having done bowel prep before the first surgery and not being able to do a resection. It wasn’t expected to find endo on my bowel, back then there wasn’t the current MRI protocol for endo and we really went into the surgery only knowing that I had an endometrioma. So I went to the CEC in Atlanta for my second surgery and did bowel prep. I chose the CEC due to it being a second surgery, due to having good out of network benefits, wanting their platelet rich plasma therapy to help prevent scar tissue, etc. The CEC is also less expensive overall (especially hospital and surgery fees), but in and out of network benefits need to

I’m so sorry you’re having to potentially have a second surgery. For me, the main difference with going to the CEC was the PRP therapy and one other thing, I forget what it was called, some sort of synthetic amniotic fluid like membrane that they put in place in an area that was highly operated on. They do spray the PRP all over the area inside the abdomen at the end of the surgery, to coat everything with it, from what I understand. I also think GA at the time was a bit less concerned about what medication they could prescribe, so they were a bit more liberal about giving me pain medication in the hospital. I essentially had a pain pump that night in the hospital and that was nice. Dr. Sinervo thought at the time that my case was a bit complex for Dr. Siedhoff, but that’s already 8.5 years ago when I had my first surgery. I had a recent MRI with the endo protocol and it doesn’t show any noticeable endo.

I can find the study for you. But almost 100% of women need more surgeries for endo removal after hysterectomy just 2 years later. I’m sure doctors want us to hold on to hope but having this info is so freaking important IMO. Please get yourself checked out again. Are you doing HRT or anything? Could it be hormonal too?

Dr Siedhoff at Cedars. Best of the best. Most empathy out of any doctor I’ve ever met. Meticulous surgeon and takes excellent notes. I’ve never felt that any doctor cared about me until I met him.
Positive r/Endo Feb 11, 2025 +2 pts
Truly, the best ever. I’ve never met a doctor with more empathy and more knowledge (and humility!) than Siedhoff. He genuinely cares about his patients and it shows. He responded to one of my messages at 12 AM on a Saturday… (a Saturday!!!) he cares THAT much. To be fair, I will say that his office can be a bit disorganized because they are so busy. The wait times are long to get in as a new patient, and some of the care coordination postop could’ve been better. But his staff is BUSY and doing their best. I would go so far as to say that even despite a few minor annoyances with his staff/scheduling, he is the best surgeon on the West Coast He is literally an angel among endo surgeons, I can’t recommend him highly enough. (ps I’ve heard great things about Dr. Wright too!)
Positive r/Endo Oct 2, 2025 +1 pts
Apparently the reason surgeons want to remove the cervix is bc endo is likely to grow back there. personally I think it’s worth a shot to keep as much of it as possible. The way siedhoff explained it to me is that he tries to balance recurrence vs symptoms - so he doesn’t leave 100% of it he takes enough to balance the risk. I’m pretty sure he could handle a surgery to remove it later if needed. I will also say that he referred me to pelvic floor physical therapy after my first surgery and recommended things like acupuncture, consulting with a dietitian, pain management, urogyn, a whole list! If you ask for a referrals he will give you pages lol. I’ve never talked to Dr Orbuch but I’ve heard great things. It’s helpful to hear a different perspective, so I appreciate you for sharing. I wish I could weigh in but I’m clearly a little biased :)

this is so exciting! i had an amazing experience with Dr Siedhoff and the whole surgical team. i was also told 4 months but it ended up being 6 weeks! i hope your wait time has decreased. i chose a later date at the hospital vs a sooner one at the surgical center just because i was nervous but i would have been totally fine at the surgical center. i feel truly wonderful after surgery. i’m at almost 10 weeks post op now. i had persistent sciatic pain for about a decade before surgery and i felt the pressure released as soon as i woke up from anesthesia. of course there was other pain from just having tons of endo cut out but the lack of pain in my lower back was seriously immediate. recovery was fine. i couldn’t do much for myself for a few days so i definitely recommend having someone with you at all times for at least 2 or 3 days. you wont be able to get up to use the bathroom on your own and it helps to have someone give/make you food and remind you to drink water etc. the consti

is the 40% before or after your deductible is met? and did you try the estimate calculator? what i paid was actually 26% less expensive than the estimate i got :) and needless to say, you’re going to hit your deductible with this surgery if you haven’t already😅 my main claim doesn’t break down what the actual line items are and doesn’t list billing codes, so i’m not sure how much the facilities fee was, but i’ll list out all the costs below! for reference i have a United Healthcare PPO plan with 10% coinsurance after my deductible was met. these were all the costs i had: - anesthesia: insurance billed $3200, i paid nothing - surgeon fee: insurance billed $2406, i paid nothing - pathology/lab services: insurance billed $903, i paid nothing - surgery: the 6 line items / my responsibility were as follows: 1. $46,918.40 / $5.12 2. $460 / $2.98 3. $44,878.50 / $1,947.61 4. $7,471.90 / $0 5. $1,841.38 / $0 6. $230 / $0 total billed: $101,800.18 i paid: $1,955.71

he did! he checks everything. if you want a soecifix area checked, mention it to him or his assistant surgeon when they come to see you before surgery. thankfully he didn’t have to bring anyone else in (surprising because we were pretty sure there would be endo on my bladder and bowels but there wasn’t), but a colorectal surgeon and urological surgeon were available if they were needed. Dr. Siedhoff assured me that this would be the case no matter the location, but I was just so anxious about everything and felt reassured by being in the hospital with its many resources vs. a surgical center. this was totally a personal decision and only based on my own feelings so don’t out much stock in it! if i did it over, i’d take the earlier appt regardless of location

My doctor is Dr Siedhoff. My surgery is scheduled for the fall (by choice— once you have an initial visor his surgery wait time is about 6 weeks). I had to wait three months for my initial visit, though. So far I really like him and all my doctors and physical therapists spread really highly of him.

just had my excision surgery… and wow. i’m sure all of us have felt unsure about the severity of our endo at some point, considering it’s a poorly understood and mostly invisible illness. my biggest fear going into surgery was that i wouldn’t have endo at all - and that i was just more sensitive to cramps than most people. well, jesus was i wrong! they found so much endo it took 50% more time to excise than normal! the report went so thoroughly into detail about the severity and extensiveness of it too. i am SO RELIEVED. i have so many weird digestive symptoms too, that the laparoscopy totally confirmed as being largely related to endo growth. i saw dr siedhoff at cedars sinai who did an AMAZING job. i’m recovering rn and def in pain due to the thoroughness of the procedure, but here’s to hopefully less excruciating periods from here on out. if you’re on the fence about getting that laparoscopy, this is your sign to just do it, money permitting. i had to switch insurances just for this to be recovered and wow i’m so glad i did. i’m free to answer more questions about the procedure if anyone needs some feedback about what to expect!

It was actually determined post-surgery that I had adeno too. And cure for that is a hysterectomy which is what he recommended for me right off the bat even though we thought it was going to be endo only. He worked on my rectum and bladder as well because endo had spread over there. The endo actually started causing retroperitoneal fibrosis which can be fatal and could require kidney transplants. I feel very confident in his work. Three things I love about him. He really listens. He does not dismiss anything you say and will consider it with your treatment. And he's so damn thorough. My post- initial appointment notes were 10 pages and he references literature. My post-op notes were 3 very detailed pages with words I had to Google. Plus you get clear pictures. I also had him check my diaphragm just to be safe and his notes said upper abdominal is clear.
