I just saw Dr. Ann Peters with Mercy in Maryland. I found her on Nancy's Nook. I was able to get an appointment a week after calling and she seems great so far! Do keep trying to get into the group to educate yourself though!

I just saw her yesterday too! I heard somebody talking about her and Nancy's Nook at the desk while I was in the waiting room. If that was you that's hilarious!

Lmao mine was at 8:30 so I think it must've been you. I am getting surgery with her though, she said I'd probably hear from scheduling Monday.

Oh okay! I see some people waiting for a year for some Nook doctors so that's not too bad. Good luck with everything, she seems like a great doctor just from one appointment. Feel free to message me anytime :)

I literally just saw her today!! She was amazing and her surgical coordinator is going to call me and set up my surgery soon!
Positive r/Endo Nov 22, 2019 +1 pts
Omg it probably was!! My appointment was at 9 so if it was around that time then that was probably me. What a crazy coincidence! Are you for sure having surgery with her?
Positive r/Endo Nov 22, 2019 +1 pts
Haha yes that was me! The scheduler called me this morning, I hope you hear from her soon!

She wants me to see a GI doctor first and get a work up due to some of my symptoms, so I have to coordinate that before I can schedule surgery. She said that her first availability for surgery isn’t till the end of January though, so it’s going to be a wait unfortunately. I think the holidays are probably screwing with the scheduling and she’s a highly demanded surgeon.

Constipation I got diagnosed with endo via surgery in 2020. Back then I was having constant diarrhea before surgery. No endo was found on my bowel but it was in the cul-de-sac region. However over the past 1.5 years i've suffered with bad constipation. Sometimes going like 5 days without a bowel movement and even a laxative won't help. I've started taking magnesium and see a bit of a difference. But not regular by any means. I can have diarrhea in the morning then be constipated in the afternoon. It's all over the place. So much bloating too. I see Dr Ann Peters in Baltimore MD and she referred me to a GI that she likes that works with a lot of her other endo patients to see if he can help before we resort to another surgery to see if it's endo related. I see him in August. I just wanted to see if anyone else has similar experiences as well? What were your symptoms and did it end up being endo?

If you’re willing to travel to Baltimore Dr. Ann Peters was my surgeon and while I am only 4 weeks out she’s on the nook list and recommended on the map on r/endo. I couldn’t find a bad review on her. If things didn’t work out with her I was looking at Dr. Victoria Vargas and Dr. Khara Simpson. They’re all recommended on the map and I only found one bad review on Khara from someone seeing her for a pregnancy issue. Lmk if you have any questions and good luck!

I wanted to come back to this to tell you I’ve had my post op appt with her and I couldn’t recommend her more. I did have endo on my bladder and she is very skilled in that area (she does approx 500 laps a year) and when I asked about bowel endo in my consultation appt she told me she works with other surgeons so if endo comes up in an area she doesn’t feel confident in she will won’t just have at it! The procedure would have to take place in Bmore but I saw her in the Columbia office and we preferred that office. She has a pain management doctor that she works with and sends patients to and has recommended a PFT practice with different locations for me to go to as well. While she doesn’t prescribe opioids before surgery she won’t leave you high and dry and has given different medications to help the pain.

3rd Endo Surgery on the 27th July 27th is my third endo surgery. I'm having it with Ann Peters at Mercy. Basically we both knew the only option was to go in and see what was happening so I passively just agreed to surgery. but i don't feel ready. I'm scared. Scared of finding nothing, scared of finding something. Scared of the surgery itself and the effects it'll have on my body. Scared of recovery and I have no idea what to expect because I have no idea what she'll find.

Like I have nothing but good things to say about doctors peters herself. BUT communicate via mercy broke down so badly, the next time i when in for surgery, i asked to see a different doctor and was assigned audlin. Very little of it was peters fault, mainly i don't think she was even getting any of the messages i was trying to get to her till too late, but after how bad it was. i needed a new start.

Yes, but I went to Mayo Clinic. Dr. Peters ultimately wasn’t the right fit for my needs.

If you're already considering NYC also possibly consider Dr. Ann Peters in Baltimore. She was trained with Dr. Ted Lee, a specialist in Pittsburgh. Dr. Peters is part of a major medical system (Mercy) which accepts most insurance plans. I'm in the Philadelphia area and this was the best option for me, although it's not a long drive. She's a great doctor and her staff were all very helpful. I had a similar prognosis to you (chronic pain for about 1.5-2 years) and she had no hesitation to go straight to surgery, although we explored an MRI for my back pain to rule out other causes, mostly bc I asked for it. She also offered to do virtual appointments since I was out of state, but I opted to go in since it was only an hour and a half drive.

I'm doing really well--a lot better than before surgery! Definitely not a linear journey; I still get low back pain which was my chief complaint, and the occasional difficult period, but the pain is not so cyclical and it's nowhere as severe as before (no ER visits since!) My remaining symptoms are mostly muscular (hip and back) which can be explained by other things (like a fracture in my foot lol). On the whole my experience at Mercy and with the surgery was very positive and while I'm not perfect, I am soooooo much better. I feel confident that Dr. Peters would take my pain seriously if I ever needed to go back, too.

It was good! I live about 45 minutes away. I saw her at an office in Lutherville MD. I honestly got very anxious during my appointment and forgot to ask some key questions. I found her on Nancy’s nook so I know that she’s got me covered but. I have been previously diagnosed and had ablation surgery. So she told me she knows 100% she’s going to find the endometriosis that I had the first time but she can’t guarantee how much it has progressed in 2 years, I’m having bowel and thoracic symptoms so she will be checking those areas. She did an exam in the office and evaluated my pelvic floor as well. I knew already that I have IC and pelvic floor dysfunction, high tone pelvic floor to be exact. She is going to be doing a laparoscopy to look for and excise any Endo she finds, she’s going to be doing a cystoscopy and Hydrodistention for my bladder, and she recommended that I do pelvic floor and vaginal trigger point injections that she can do during my surgery. She gave me vaginal Valium to u

Hey, so I just had my consultation with Dr. Peters and it was honestly a wonderful experience. She spent about 30 min. just talking to me and actually ended up diagnosing something else that I have been struggling with that my midwife had not given me treatment options for. I would definitely recommend her to anyone in the area! I will hopefully be on her surgery schedule for a lap in December.

Yay! I just saw her this past Monday and had the same experience. She provided the best experience I have ever had with a medical professional and I felt so validated. She was really affirming too and actually even helped me with other issues that weren't even the reason I had the appointment with her. You can really tell she cares about us as human beings. I'm on her surgery schedule for December and hope you get some relief soon, we all deserve it!
