Heyyyy!
I'm so sorry about how you're feeling! I cant say I know how you feel because people experience endometriosis differently.
But I do hope you feel better. Have you tried searching for a good endo specialist?
Endometriosis is a horrible thing to deal with and if you plan to have kids in future I will suggest seeing an endometriosis specialist as soon as you can and try to get an excision surgery done to take out the endometriomas.
I'm actually in the process of getting my excision surgery done, I've had 3 open surgeries in the past and none of them helped. I'm going with Dr Nicholas Kongoasa of the Center for Restorstive Reproductive surgery in Atlanta. There's another center called The Center for Endometriosis care also in Atlanta. Dr Sinervo and Dr Jeff Arrington are the doctors you can speak to.
I'm recently married and I definitely want kids, I'm not letting endo ruin that for me.
Please hang in there, I know it's easier said than done. But please try to look into excision

Hey! I recently had excision surgery with a really good excision specialist. His name is Dr Nicholas Kongoasa. He's amazing. The only issue is, he's in Atlanta and I dont know how far/close that is for you. Check him out if you get a chance, you wont have any regrets I promise.

I'm feeling great. Dr Nicholas Kongoasa did my surgery and he was and is AMAZING. I'm worried about the specialist you saw. Is there any chance you can schedule an appointment with Dr Nicholas? Hes in Atlanta but he does appointments by video too. And surgery wasnt too expensive. I just want you to have a second opinion. Dr Nicholas is an Endo specialist and also specializes in excision surgery. Please talk with him. I dont know how severe your case is but I can tell you from experience that this Dr helped me a lot and I'm still seeing him so I can have kids too.
I really hope you feel better soon and get some relief. Endo is no joke and sometimes these "specialists" dont take us seriously. Only a few really know what they're doing. Praying for you 🙏🏽

I’ll note that my first surgery (March 2022) included a lot of fulguration. In the subsequent months, my pain ramped up exponentially. I was unable to drive or leave my home. I was hopeless. I think the burning did nothing but scar over the endo lesions making them grow deeper and angrier. I had my second surgery on March 24th, this time with a nook surgeon where endo was removed from bladder, bowel, ovaries, peritoneum, pelvic side wall, etc, and I had acute appendicitis. 12 days out and I feel better than I have in literally years.

I traveled to Atlanta and had surgery with Dr. Kongoasa. His mentor is Dr. Sinervo at the CEC. The Atlanta hospital is used to endo patients and knows how to care for us. I would recommend.

I’m in Atlanta! When researching specialists, I went back and forth between CEC and RHM gynecology (they have a surgical team), and I heard about Dr Kongoasa with RHM on a podcast actually, and Google reviews of CEC came back kind of mixed, so I went with RHM- they have been AMAZING. I called and got scheduled for a phone call consultation with the surgeon within a week or so. My first in person appointment was in late Feb/early March and I told them I suspected endo and am also looking to try and conceive later this year.
I just had my lap last week, and Dr K excised the endo that they found, and I’m scheduled for follow ups regarding fertility and hormone imbalance in the upcoming months. They’ve got me set up with pelvic floor therapy after I heal as well.
The specialist fee is not covered by insurance, but they do cap it so they give you an amount that they guarantee they won’t exceed regardless of the time or severity of the surgery, and the entire staff and supporting drs have

If you’re willing to travel, I just had my lap done with Dr. Kongoasa with RHM Gynecology in Atlanta. Could not recommend them more. The whole staff there is kind and knowledgeable, and I felt taken care of and listened to every step of the way.
I believe there’s a Facebook group as well called Nancy’s Nook where you can find recommendations for specialists in different areas across the USA.
Good luck to you and your daughter!

Healing has been okay, I got my period on day 6 of recovery (now on day 8) and that has been super painful but I know it’s not normal- the 5th day of my recovery I was feeling really good, and now I’m hoping to be feeling better the next couple days.
I haven’t had my official post-op call yet, that’s 2 weeks after surgery, though the surgeon called me the next day and went over everything with me. And I had a virtual appointment on Monday with the nurse practitioner to go over medications and post op activity for the first few days. I’ll confirm what stage endo it is on my post op call, but Dr K said they looked all around (including diaphragm) and excised everything they found.
Overall I’m happy with their level of care and attention! In their patient portal, they are super quick to respond to messages and I’ve never had trouble with getting seen and scheduled for appointments.

Either Doctor Kongoasa or Doctor Sinervo. Both have been great to me. I highly suggest Doctor Kongoasa. He’s so sweet and understanding.

She asked for recommendations and I gave her recommendations. I wasn’t scammed by either of these doctors and they treated me greatly and actually took me seriously.

Mine was only 15,000 including the hospital without insurance. The second time around I had insurance and the state said it was medically necessary so I payed nothing. So yes I do understand. Why are you acting like this? She said she didn’t want to waste money on a doctor who did not listen or dismiss her. I’m overweight and had no issue with these doctors. I’m sharing my experience. So calm down.

Definitely sounds like endo. I spent an entire 10 months going to the ER over once a month (13 times total) for help because my pain was so obscene, and I got the same runaround there (given toradol or morphine, zofran for nausea, CT scan with contrast, then sent home and told "nothing is wrong". If you can, find an endo-specialist gyno or an endo excision surgeon and discuss your options as far as either possible non-surgical treatment options or surgery. I had excision surgery w dr Nicholas Kongoasa in Georgia almost 2 years ago (sept 2019) and my pain has gone from like, 8+/10 every single day, to 2-3/10 most days, with an occasional 6-10 day if something is acting up in my body. I have other inflammatory disorders that impact my endo, so sometimes other illness flares cause endo to flare too, but outside of that I'm usually almost entirely pain free

I did have excision surgery almost 2 years ago, with Dr Nicholas Kongoasa in Georgia. My pain is drastically better, and my GI symptoms have improved a ton. I still have intermittent pressure/discomfort and occasional stabs of pain, but the difference from before is like night and day.

That's great to hear! I actually spoke with him already and so far, his office has been much more helpful and did what they said when they said... which is very important. What if I need the dr after surgery? If it's this difficult to hear from them (cec) up front, what would it be like later?!
How is your healing going so far? Do you know what stage endo it was and if they were able to get it all? I do like that you can follow up with him now and beyond. That's important.
I hope all goes well for you!

I was going to go with dr. K. They reviewed my case faster and I liked him when I spoke with him. But I couldn't do surgery for months. Then after I spoke to Dr Sinervo I liked him as well, and I can get surgery much quicker. They both seemed nice and knowledgeable. I've read great things about both.. it was really a matter of who could get to me the quickest. I've already racked my brain with the diagnosis, research, possibilities, etc. I just let that part be the deciding factor. Do you know who you're going to choose?

I was just about to suggest this. I found my specialist there and have been endo free since 2018. I ended up going with Dr. Kongoasa and Dr Sinervo at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, GA.

I considered them starting last summer, it took me several days (due to chronic fatigue from having Hashimotos and hypothyroidism, I'm exhausted for no reason all the time) to type up my story that I submitted regarding endo (personal history, ended up being about 12 pages long, single spaced) and the photo and had it mailed to them to evaluate around Labor Day weekend 2016. I didn't hear back from anyone until around Halloween, when Dr. Kongoasa called me and said that it sounded like I had stage IV and that they'd probably do a bowel resection for sure. He then said he would have their scheduler, Jean, reach out to me. Well...I'll say, Jean is very difficult to get in touch with. She is the only scheduler on staff (and one of the only people who can do that, apparently-even if she is out of the office). And so she didn't initially reach out to me until early December. I had missed her call (I can't really take personal calls while at work) and we played phone tag most of that month a

There is an Endo expert in Atlanta, GA. I spoke with him and he advised taking the Ovaries. If you have Endo the ovaries need to go with the Uterus. Also, yes you’ll have a fake cycle if you keep your ovaries. She had mood swings. She didn’t have Endo, so I can’t speak for the rest. But, based off the Endo expert, I would guess you might have other symptoms too. Perhaps reach out to Dr. Nicolas Kongoasa in the Atlanta area. There aren’t many Endo specialists but he’s one of them. Sadly, most OBGYNs don’t know a lot about Endo.

Nick Kongoasa is an excellent surgeon. I saw him once in NJ then he left where he was practicing. He didn't didn't go back to practicing with Dr SInervo, right? Is he on his own somewhere in Georgia?
