“poor I paid her $4k concierge fee at her private practice. Two weeks after surgery, I started experiencing recurrent abdominal pain along with a ton of other issues. follow-ups were practically nonexistent”
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been looking for negative reviews about Dr. Haverland because I couldn’t believe I was the only one. I paid her $4k concierge fee at her private practice. Two weeks after surgery, I started experiencing recurrent abdominal pain along with a ton of other issues. I was always advised to give it time, but recovery was very slow, and follow-ups were practically nonexistent. She called three times over two weeks, and after that, the only guidance I received was to continue physical therapy and pain management.
In the process, I discovered that I have a hernia, some diastasis, and chronic abdominal pain that persists 24/7, extending from my belly button to one of the abdominal incisions. I have repeatedly complained about this pain and the lack of control I have over my abdominal muscles since the surgery. I initially appreciated how caring and professional she seemed, but unfortunately, I may now need another surgery with a different doctor to address these issues. My pain specialist believes that nerve damage/ entrapment from the surgery may be contributing to my ongoing pain. Both of my abdominal sides feel different and she never really evaluated what truly happened in person after so many months.
I am copying the same response I left earlier to another person:
I had surgery with Dr Haverland. After surgery, I started having ongoing abdominal pain and a to of other complications. Recovery was slow, and follow-up care was very limited, impacting my physical well being and life. There were only a few check-ins (calls) for two weeks, and afterward the advice was basically to continue physical therapy and manage the pain.
Over time, I discovered issues like a hernia, some muscle separation, and chronic abdominal pain that persists daily. I’ve repeatedly raised concerns about the pain and lack of abdominal muscle control since surgery. Initially, the care seemed professional and attentive, but post op in-person evaluations were nonexistent, and it feels like post-operative support ended very quickly (at two weeks to be exact she stops considering you a post op patient). My pain specialist thinks there may be nerve involvement contributing to the ongoing pain, caused by nerve trauma or damage left. Both sides of my abdomen feel different, and there hasn’t been thorough follow-up to assess the situation. She never really see the final results after the healing period.

Please read my recent response above. I am 6 months post op. Abdominal wall pain became chronic 24/7 for me after my second post op week. It hasn’t gone away. I will probably need another surgery. Wishing you the best experience, but please ask enough questions about Dr Haverland’s plan when things don’t go as expected.

Thank you for responding. It has taken me a long time to feel mentally ready to leave this review after how traumatic my experiences with different endo doctors have been. Dr. Haverland was so kind that I truly believed she would be my advocate, that’s why I selected her for my first ever laparoscopy.
I have an endo warrior friend who also had surgery with her. She had a previous surgery with a different doctor, and her experience was different, but the follow-up care she received from Dr. Haverland was similar to mine. I’m relieved to know I’m not imagining things and that Dr. Haverland’s lack of post-surgery care wasn’t unique to me. Did you end up needing another surgery?
“Doctor found endo missed by previous doctors. Patient had rare post-surgical complications; doctor remained highly involved in care during hospitalization. I can't recommend her enough. She is insanely thorough and has great bedside manner. What every other doctor missed and ignored, she found in my surgery.”
Dr. Haverland performed my surgery in October. I can’t recommend her enough. She is insanely thorough and has great bedside manner. I had some pretty rare complications a few days after my surgery and had to be admitted into the hospital, and she visited me multiple times and stayed very involved in my care, even though she technically didn’t have to. She really knows her stuff about endo. What every other doctor missed and ignored, she found in my surgery.
“Patient describes Haverland as 'hands down best doc in Texas.' Haverland took patient seriously after years of not being heard, did not dismiss her for being young (24), ordered MRI, and helped patient get surgery within 3 months. Also helped patient pursue hysterectomy. Offers virtual appointments.”

Dr Rachel Haverland in Dallas !!!!!! She does virtual appts as well. Hands down best doc in Texas . Endometriosis surgical center. Call them and tell them you’re in pain and no one will help- I bet you they give you an appt within 10 days. She was SO helpful for me after fighting for years to get someone to take me seriously.
Not sure what your financial situation is but MRI’s tend to be better diagnostic tools than ultrasounds if you can facilitate one, she will likely write a script for you to get one.
Not sure where you’re located…. If you can afford it I’d look into Rachel Haverland (TX) or Lora Liu (NY/ NJ), both of these doctors will consult with you virtually and assist in ordering an MRI for you. I believe my out of pocket cost for one was only 129$ as I don’t have any insurance.
These two doctors never told me I was too young, (24 when I first consulted with them) and upon my MRI findings and symptom history I was booked into surgery in under 3 months.
I had already had a stage 4 diagnosis from a previous endo excision laparoscopy at 18, but it was back with the full vengeance by 22, even with the all the new trial endo drugs / BC’s.
I got referred to Rachel when I told my current OBGYN I was going to put a scalpel into my abdomen and walk into the ER if she didn’t help me find someone that would help me get a hysterectomy. So many of these doctors are straight up ass holes who just want to keep collecting money off of you and not help you. These 2 I’ve recommended have been excellent.
Dr Rachel Haverland in Dallas will help you get a hysterectomy if that’s what you want ❤️ I’m 24 and she helped me !
Alternatively - taking extra progesterone the week before my period helped me ease symptoms.
“Patient describes Haverland as a 'true excision surgeon', aggressive about excising all endometriosis, a great patient advocate, kind, understanding, and validating about pain. Had surgery with her a couple of weeks prior to posting.”

Highly recommend Dr. Haverland in Dallas TX. A true excision surgeons and is very targeted/aggressive (in a good way) about excising all the endometriosis and working towards your goals. I am the same as you starting grad school and I am concerned about preserving my fertility as well. I also most likely have adenomyosis (showed up on a MRI scan). She was so kind, understanding and really validated me about my pain.

“They were the very first providers to EVER tell me I was downplaying my symptoms.”

It’s called Pelvic Rehabilitation Center, and I found them on Nancy’s Nook. I see there are multiple locations throughout the US. I am using the one in Dallas, and the surgeon’s name is Dr. Haverland. I haven’t had the procedure yet so I can’t speak to that, but I *will* say that upon my first appointment with the Nurse Practitioner Myesha Banks, (who I decided to see first, as I wasn’t sure if another surgery was warranted,) I felt immediate relief by the bedside manner. My pain was not dismissed, and I had a clear plan of action from day one, beginning with pain suppositories, pelvic PT, imaging, before moving then to nerve blocks, and then onto surgery. They didn’t push birth control pills on me, they didn’t tell me to get pregnant and then have organs removed, or that I needed to just accept horrible cramps and pelvic pain as part of womanhood. While I was in the waiting room for my first appointment, without prompting, complete strangers openly praised the treatment they were receiving there after years of being dismissed by other providers.
I want to emphasize again that I am only now starting on my treatments with them so I don’t know how this will play out, but I will say that they were the very first providers to EVER tell me I was downplaying my symptoms. That living in pain and planning my life around my cycles knowing I would be bedridden for a few days during my period was NOT normal and I don’t have to accept it.

“Patient met with Dr. Haverland at Pelvic Rehabilitative Medicine. No outcome sentiment expressed — mentioned in context of recommending other resources.”

Have you had surgery since 2022 to address the adhesions? Dr. Rachel Haverland is who I met with at Pelvic Rehabilitative Medicine. Dr. Anthony O'Connell is also a women's pelvic health specialist at Medical City in Dallas and I absolutely recommend having a consultation with him. I also had adhesions which he removed and was diagnosed with endometriosis (visually during surgery though pathology came back negative). My nerve pain was horrendous as well and I didn't make much progress after a year in PFPT. Over a year since surgery and still in PFPT but doing soo much better. Feel free to DM me if you have questions.
“Combined excision and hysterectomy, same-day discharge. Out-of-pocket cost ~$15k; billed insurance $150k. Patient highly recommends a consult.”

I paid about $15k out of pocket for Dr. Haverland in the Dallas area last year (combined excision and hysterectomy). Highly recommend a consult with her just so you know all of your options! I believe they billed my insurance $150k and that was with me going home the same day. Absolutely outrageous what medical procedures cost.
