Excision is the gold standard for endometriosis. I just had mine done. Make sure you find someone who specializes in treating endo. I saw Dr. Duke in Idaho he is one of the best surgeons for endo. But there are others who are good too. Just make sure they have completed many excision surgeries. Because it is easy to have complications. 500 is deemed an expert one of my primary doctors told me. Dr. Duke has completed more than 5,000. Endo is awful pain. I hope you find the right doctor to complete excision laparoscopic surgery for her.

Do it! He is one of the best in the country. I had mine on 9/29. So a little over 3 months ago. He is wonderful and so is his entire team. I had a lot of bladder pressure and had to urinate very frequently. I had horrible periods with very intense pain. I got many UTI’s and had back and side pain constantly. When I went into to surgery I was also bleeding pretty heavily from a hemorrhaging cyst. That had been bleeding for about a day was his guess and I had no idea. If it would have went on for two more days I would have died. He literally saved my life. He also fixed my bladder it was folded over and filled with endo. All of my bladder pressure is gone now. So is my lower back and hip pain. I didn’t even realized the amount of pain I was in until it was gone. My periods now are a cake walk. I don’t have to urinate every 15 mins now. I can actually hold my urine like normal! I had a very bad case endo was all over my insides, including my rectum. My surgery took close to three hours.

When you go in for surgery with him there is a prep time and they will give you an iv. In the iv before you get to the surgery room they will give you some stuff to help make your anxiety go down. Being nervous is normal. I was scared and nervous as well. But I thought if it took the edge of my period pain it would be worth it. I would recommend the surgery with Dr. Duke to anyone. He is very kind as well. He also literally saved my life like I said. Please have the surgery done. Pain is not normal.

I have both ando and endo! My recovery has been really good. The 2.5 weeks were really rough. I had a lot of nausea. Which is common with any kind of stomach surgery I read. But after that it has been good. I have some lighting pains sometimes but that is normal because of the nerves healing. Make sure you take a stool softener and Metamucil for a couple of weeks after surgery. Also, wear very soft loose clothing. I bought like old navy jumpers from old navy and they were great. My doctor at the women’s clinic I go to actually had Dr. Duke perform her endo surgery too. She works with him a lot and sends a lot of referrals his way. Your good feeling is correct about him and his staff. The surgery was life saving and life changing for me.

Took the first step today.
I called the women's clinic in Post falls Idaho and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Duke for January 14. I'm so happy right. It's not going to be easy for me especially when I live like 6 hours away but I have family to stay with in Spokane.
I'm kinda nervous but this is the only way to get rid of my pain.

Summary of my first appointment with Dr Duke.
OK. New patient appointment lasts 30 mins but he's very thorough and straight to the point. I'm glad that I brought my medical records with me especially the photos from the lap.
Bullet point cuz I'm lazy and he gave way too much information while going over those very few crappy quality photos.
*Adenomyosis- I feared this because I want kids. But he's able to save it through a fertility preserving method.
*endo on the appendix--knew this because of flair ups. He's taking that out. I'm happy about this because for the last 2 years I've been monitoring it just in case the pain wasn't endo related. There's a special billing issue with this. Pay 500 out of pocket first and then after the pathology confirmation you get the $500 back from insurance. Important to know because his billing department asks for that up front.
*"shit. you have a lot of endo in there" - I knew from the lap when I had it was only to confirm the endo in order for me to see a specialist for insurance reasons. I never went and got multiple laps done because I knew that wasn't the right treatment. And burning the endo off would only make it worse.
*pelvic floor therapy- I was surprised by this recommendation but he can only do so much and from the years of inflammation has my floor muscles constantly tensed. I'll look one up when I get back home in a few days. This one is on the patient to do to help themselves.
*bowel prep-yep. Not fun. But yea.
*bladder-Interstitial Cystitis, he'll be checking for that. There's a special diet it for it. I've never heard of it this until the appointment.
*internal exam- halle fucking lujah he doesn't use a speculum. This was actually a big plus and a huge relief for me. The use of speculums and pain from them, for me at least, can last for days. He doesn't use them period.
Pre-op appointment-this one will be just to go over what's going to happen during the operation which will take place sometime in Feb

The iud stopped my painful and extremely heavy period.
Cramping pretty much daily. I also had endo on my appendix which gave me pain for years. He takes out the gallbladder and appendix because that's where he find endo on. I wasn't having sex so some of my symptoms are on the few side. But inserting cups or tampons hurt like a bitch.

Hi! I was also referred to Dr. Duke and recently had an over-the-phone consultation with him (I live in another part of Idaho). He was very respectful and considerate with me, and I picked up the same vibe that you did in your consultation! My actual surgery isn't until February (it's a hysterectomy and endo excision), so I'm sorry to not be much of a help since we're kind of at the same stage. I would love to hear how your surgery goes though, and I'll update on mine as well once it happens! I did see a youtube video of Dr. Duke speaking about endo. If you haven't checked that out, I would recommend doing so, because I was doing the same thing as you with trying to search the internet haha. Good luck!❤️

Good question. With my insurance, it ended up being almost $5k including all hospital and surgery fees. It was probably around $20k pre-insurance (happy to check for you if you want). They made me pay $2k in advance as a retainer and that factored into my $5k. They also have a great payment plan option that is up to 24months without interest.

You’re told that at NW Women’s Clinic? Odd - I had my surgery in August and it’s very much an option (but they do still require a deposit and pre-authorization from insurance). The surgery scheduler is the first person who told me about the plan and gave me a pamphlet. I then set up the payment plan post-surgery when I got my first bill. I can DM you the pamphlet but I’m away on a work trip for a few days. I’ll send it on Friday when I’m back and I believe there’s a phone number/link to info.

I’m not OP but I had surgery with Dr Duke a year and 5mo ago and it was the best decision. I had endo & he diagnosed me with adeno. I don’t want kids and I decided to pursue a total hysterectomy (cervix out, fallopian tubes out, ovaries still intact), endo excision, appendix out (common spot for endo), and a bladder cystoscopy (to test bladder function).
I feel a thousand times better and my quality of life is SO much better. Most of my pain is completely gone, but I do have some mild pain with sex around ovulation sometimes (nothing I can’t work around with careful positioning). I wished I knew how long to reasonably expect to be healing, and how long I’d feel pain. I struggled up until nearly a year after with some pain, and pain with sex. Honestly, around 7 or 8mo I felt hopeless because I was “better” but not the way I expected. It just took time (and a lot of trust).
His team is fantastic and he was great to work with. I didn’t feel like I was properly prepared for how big of

What part of Washington are you looking in? I was over in Seattle and saw a good gyn there but she was not a specialist. I tried to see Dr. Mosbrucker from the map, but she doesn’t take insurance and I couldn’t swing the price. I’m currently seeing Dr. Duke in Post Falls, ID. I had also started looking into doctors in Portland. Feel free to dm me with any questions!

Ah hi neighbor! I’m also in Spokane! I would definitely call Dr. Duke’s office and see if they take your insurance. I didn’t need a referral, and it was only a couple month wait for an appointment. Also, if you’re interested in pelvic floor physical therapy Lake City PT is really great and knowledgeable about endo.

Hi! I actually lost my account login for a couple years. Oops. Happened to randomly remember it not too long ago.
Wow I still remember getting those results and being scared out of my mind. The ER doctor that told me it looked like cancer was wrong. I did end up seeing an endo specialist in Idaho (Dr. Duke) who did excision surgery and cleared out the adhesions and cysts that had formed. He also diagnosed me with adenomyosis and interstitial cystitis. I had him place an IUD while I was under as well. It’s been two years since the surgery. I had pain relief up until about 6 months ago and then the flares started back up again.

Please don’t give up hope. My first gyno actually did an ablation and was convinced it was just a small amount, like literally a dime size. She meant well, but I just wished she told me it was out of her scope of practice and she referred me to a specialist. If she had, I would have been able to find relief so much sooner.
Where do you live if you’re okay asking. My fantastic surgeon is in Post Falls, ID. Most people don’t know to look there because most people flock to bigger cities, or because the size of the cities, there are longer waits. From first appt to surgery it was about 3 months. I don’t have Facebook, but everyone says it is a good resource. Thankfully, my PT knew this doctor well and he is indeed a nook doctor. His name is Adam Duke and he practices out of northwest specialty hospital. I’ve never had such a wonderful experience at than than I did there.

I just had my excision lap done by Dr. Duke 11 days ago!! He is so wonderful. I had extensive endo but nothing reconstructed so I could leave soon after.I do remember him saying that if they had to resection my bowels it would be at least one night in the hospital. It sounds like if there’s more, it could be longer. In any case, hospital staff was amazing. I wrote my first 5 start review on Google for their hospital. I always felt comfortable, heard, and respected.
You are in such good hands that even if you have extensive surgery and a longer stay, it’ll be okay. That gives you plenty of time to prep, also. Whether that’s asking people to help out with food, animals, and chores. I had a lap prior that was only an ablation and honestly, I felt 100x better this time, since all the endo that was making me sick was finally gone.
I’m so excited for you ♥️

Dr. Duke is my provider also and he is SO great! The staff and hospital were some of my best medical experiences. He comes from such a genuine place and I’ve continued care with him through trigger point injections and he’ll be my gyno up until I’m ready to deliver a baby (if and when that happens). He is very thorough and my life changed significantly after my procedure with him. I had a lap before where they were dismissive and minimized what was going on. He is so validating and also used the “you had a shit ton of endo” on me, too!
Also- he shared that adeno does not affect fertility, only endo does. I also had a presacral neurectomy when he suspected adeno to help with pain.
If you’re in the area, there’s a great pelvic floor therapist named julie at Core Pelvic Floor in spokane valley. I’ve had so much great success with her so far coupled with all the other therapies and procedures.
I know you’ll find the healing and relief you so deserve ♥️

I heard this directly from my surgeon, she’s an excision specialist. If you actually watch the video posted yesterday on this page with Dr Adam Duke he talks about it. His partner Dr Young is my Dr and did my surgery!!
He explains how different levels of experience and confidence in how they excise can determine that outcome. Ablation is definitely not effective. The entire video is amazing. But yeah I don’t have research to show you it’s just what my Dr told me when I asked. I would say since she has ALoT of experience maybe HER success rate w excision is 15%. Maybe less experienced surgeons aren’t as aggressive, miss microscopic endo, don’t get good margins etc. so percentage can vary I’m sure, it takes time to perfect! Dr Duke talks about his hesitation to join Nancy’s Nook initially because he wasn’t quite ready. And took years trial and error to become a true specialist

New to the world as well! Not sure if it's too far but I'm in Boise and I'm seeing Dr. Adam Duke up in Post Falls, Idaho.
They have two specialists at their women's health clinic. I like their process because they will do any referrals/testing at your local doctor and then do a phone consult where you can ask all of your questions about next steps.

Doctor recommendations in Boise, Idaho.
Hi everyone! I had excision surgery with Dr. Duke in Post Falls in 2023. Since that I haven't found an OB-GYN yet and I need to get one. I checked the endometriosis map and Dr. Jacqueline Maybech was listed but the clinic said she is no longer practicing.
Does anyone in Boise have any recommendations? Thank you!

Dr. Adam Duke
Hello All! This is my first post here, but i have been scouring the internet for information about my doctor.
Background:
I had surgery back in June by a local OBGYN & he told me I had stage four DIE endo. He recommended that I go to a specialist in Post Falls, ID—Dr. Adam Duke. I have since trusted my previous doctor blindly (I was very well taken care of by him and his team & I have had no reason not to take his advice), and scheduled a surgery date with Dr. Duke. As it approaches, I am getting more nervous about my surgery, which is natural, but I also realized I know next to nothing about this doctor. Has anybody had experiences with him or had a surgery done by him that can attest to his reputation? He seems knowledgeable, based on what I gleaned from our consultation; he is polite and extremely confident in his abilities. He is also recommended something called “Nancy’s Nook”, which I just read about on a post in this group around 10 minutes ago, so I have yet to put much stock in that. I will admit that I have only recently joined this group and have read very little, so if there is already information on here that I missed in my simple search of Dr. Duke, I would very much appreciate the source!
I am so glad I discovered this community of people! 🤍

Hey! Sorry I am getting back to you so late. I have since had 2 surgeries with Dr. Duke and he was amazing!! He is an incredible doctor. When I contacted him for my second surgery, a year and a half later, he remembered every little detail of my first surgery. Even down to little concerns I’d had. He did a great job addressing every symptom I had, and making me feel heard. I hope everything goes well for you! 💕
I had those two surgeries to help me with my 3 yr infertility battle, and I am now 10 weeks pregnant!! Dr. Duke is a miracle worker!

My husband and I both had issues, but ultimately, we decided to do IVF. It worked on our first transfer, luckily. It felt so good to finally have something go right. I’m grateful for the whole experience & what it’s taught me! 💕
The first surgery was really intense. He resected a TON of endo, detached my rectum to clean out that whole area, reconnected it, shaved off the first layer of my bladder, basically removed 1/3 of my left ovary, removed my appendix, etc.
The recovery was amazing. I did have to stay overnight because I have chronic low BP & it was too dangerous for me to be unmonitored until it went back up. I wish I had been able to stay in the hospital for my second, but I just didn’t need to. I hate pain meds, and I was able to get by with ibuprofen and tylenol just fine. If you can handle endo pain, this surgery is a piece of cake. I also had a lot of support, which is so important. I was bedridden for the first day or two, and even after, I needed help getting up, going
